What is your "road to success"?;

I'm postponing procrastination!
May 22, 2024- Zoe, how can I increase the productivity of people in my company?;
Paraskevas, who leads a team of fifteen people with a fairly high level of knowledge and skills in the field of technology, asked me in the last session.
- What have you done so far to motivate them? ;
I asked him, bearing in mind research results showing that employees who are motivated and “engaged” in their work are 17% more productive than those who are simply “satisfied” and 51% more productive than those who are “unmotivated.”[1].
- I provide them with a good working environment with good salary, bonuses and opportunities for promotion. What else can I do?;
I thought that all of this was very good, but they are just some of the Extrinsic Motivators that a team leader can use to motivate their team members. I wondered what about Intrinsic Motivators. Which are somewhat more abstract, such as: the desire for achievement, the need for recognition, the desire to make a difference, the ability to direct one’s own work (Autonomy), the desire to become better at what one does (Mastery) which includes seeing experiences as opportunities for growth and perseverance. It is also the desire to contribute to something greater than oneself through one’s work (Purpose).
Research shows that the most effective motivation strategy comes from a combination of extrinsic and intrinsic motivation. For example, a company can offer rewarding salaries and benefits that meet employees' needs, but also create a work environment that supports achievement, self-expression, continuous learning, and growth.
The discussion continued and Paraskevas left the meeting with a list of practical ideas he had for motivating his people, which I share with you.
• Recognition and reward: I want my people to feel that their work is appreciated. I will strengthen recognition and reward for good work, both materially and morally.
• Growth opportunities: I want them to feel like they are moving forward in their lives. I will give my people opportunities to learn new skills, take on new challenges, and grow.
• Collaborative and empowering culture: I want them to feel happy and fulfilled in their work. I will talk to my people so that together we can create a supportive, collaborative, fair and enjoyable work environment.
Employee motivation is a continuous and dynamic process for which simple recipes are not enough. It is important to monitor your employees' motivation levels, actively listen to them, and make adjustments according to their needs.
How do you motivate yourself and your people at work?;
Happy Labor Day!
